That’s right! The first footage from Bohemian Rhapsody, the long-anticipated (and overdue) Freddie Mercury biopic starring Rami Malek, is here, and it has fans buzzing with excitement.

The film will explore the 15-year period from the formation of the iconic Queen (to which Mercury served as lead singer) up until the band’s famous performance in the Live Aid benefit concert in 1985, a few years before the singer’s untimely death. It will feature vocals from Mercury blended with supporting vocals from Malek himself. Ben Hardy, Gwilym Lee, Joseph Mazzello, Allen Leech, Lucy Boynton, Tom Hollander, Aiden Gillen, and Mike Myers will join in supporting roles.

The film’s 2018 release date was put into question earlier this year when its director, Bryan Singer, was fired following clashes with crew members on set, halting production indefinitely. But he was quickly replaced by Dexter Fletcher and production resumed.

It’s tough to say whether or not the film will live up to the star it depicts – it’s a monstrous challenge to take on for any director – but Bohemian Rhapsody is sure to be a huge hit for Fox, and Malek looks like he might have more tricks up his sleeves. With a late Fall release date and scores of excited Queen fans waiting for the film, there is no doubt Fox will run a strong awards campaign in due time. Till then, check out the teaser below!

Bohemian Rhapsody is slated for an October 24 release.
