87th Annual Academy Awards Nominations

As a huge fan of the Oscars, I tend to catch as many of the oscar-favourite movies I can before the ceremony airs. And this year, I’m excited about the prospects overall. I think we’ve had some better films nominated in the past, but some gems are quite deservedly up for a golden staue — or more.

With that said, here are the official nominees of the 87th Annual Academy Awards (2015) in every category:

And that’s it! Those are the Oscar nominees for 2015. Birdman and The Grand Budapest Hotel lead with 9 nominations each.

The list is quite strong overall. I was quite surprised at Ralph Fiennes’s snub for his brilliant work in The Grand Budapest Hotel. The Academy definitely got it wrong with this one.

Tough luck for some actors such as Jennifer Aniston and Jake Gyllenhaal for their work in Cake and Nightcrawler respectively, and of course to Lebanese talent Yasmine Hamadan and the Lebanese movie Ghadi.

Congrats to all the nominees. This will be a close one.
