Zac Efron is Ted Bundy in ‘Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile’ trailer

Zac Efron’s career skyrocketed with the release of the High School Musical franchise back in the mid 2000s, making the actor a teen sensation overnight. And while it’s been difficult for Efron to shake his Wildcats jersey, the actor has since moved on to more adult-themed films and Dirty Grandpa.

That all changed early last year, however, when news first broke out that Efron had landed the role of serial killer Ted Bundy in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile. Co-starring Lily Collins, the film will explore Bundy’s life and trial from the perspective of his long-time girlfriend Elizabeth Kloepfer, which could make the film a strong vehicle for Collins going into awards season. All eyes, of course, are on Efron for now. Without a doubt his darkest character to date, Efron’s turn as one of America’s most notorious killers is both surprising and a welcome break from the actor’s previous work. In both cases, these performances are poised to be one of the most anticipated of 2019.

Ahead of the film’s Sundance Film Festival premiere later today, the long-awaited trailer was released, revealing the first glimpses of Efron’s take on Bundy, and we’re officially excited. Check out the trailer for Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, in theaters this year!
